I’ve been thinking about statements lately. It seems like we all like to make some distinct impression on the people we meet, be it a new friend or a stranger on the street. We make verbal statements to identify our cultural background, marital status, or age bracket. We also make visual statements based on how we hold ourselves, our clothing, our manner of walking and gesturing.

I’ve been thinking about what statement I want to make with what I wear. I like length in clothing, and I always find it striking when I see someone wearing an item of clothing that
